Tom Allan

I have been making suclpture since 1977, concentrating on stone and marble. Since 2000 I have worked for several weeks each year at a studio in Carrara.

My aim is to maintain and refresh the ancient art of stone carving, using modern techniques and idioms, and to work for the acceptance of stone carving as an expressive art form. My subjects are both figurative and abstract. I am trying to make sculpture which gives a monumental impression, but on a human scale.
